Today, I am very happy to publicly announce to the entire University what has already been suspected by several students: Hero Messina is innocent of the allegations of adultery against Claudio! The past week has been a hectic one here on campus, so let me give you guys a recap of how the situation between Claudio and Hero got to this point.

It all started with the mischievous John Donaldson who was the perpetrator of this whole scheme. As some of you may have already seen in the February 16th edition of The Messina Daily, John sent in an article to the “Ask Coopie” advice column asking for help with a tricky situation involving one of his fellow friends from the Cupid’s Arrow Larpers of Messina, or CALM. In this piece, John claimed to have witnessed his friend’s soon-to-be wife commit adulterous actions with another man, and even attached a suspicious photo of the alleged cheater caught red-handed. However, just as many people thought, this photo was fraudulent and the entire article was a devious, manipulative plan created by John to screw up the wedding plans of these two lovers. In fact, these accusations were so vile and wicked that it caused Hero to pass out the moment she heard them!
Luckily, this campus is comprised mostly of honorable students who would not let Hero’s reputation be distorted with such an erroneous claim against her. Many people were involved in finding the truth behind all of this, including the amazing Dogberry and Verges from the Night’s Watch who were able to take Borachio captive and force him to confess what really happened. This confession revealed the true details of John’s scheme, such as the fact that Borachio and Margaret were the actual people in the photo that John provided to the newspaper. What’s even more heartwarming is the fact that Hero’s own relatives, Leonato and Antonio, were adamant in defending her from these allegations, and that Benedick was also convinced of Hero’s innocence. Friar Francis also had a long discussion with Hero’s relatives after she passed out and proclaimed his disbelief in these accusations as well. "It is clear that the Messina community is quick to support one of our own students when they fall into adversity."
Phew! Aren’t we glad that’s over. At least we can go to sleep tonight knowing that Hero’s memory can finally be honored appropriately and that there are still plenty of good people here within our campus.
