Obituary: Hero Messina

Hero Messina died unexpectedly in Messina Hospital on February 18th at 9:37 PM at the age of 19 from a heart attack.

Hero is survived by her parents, Gabriel and Innogen Messina of Messina; brothers Antonio and Leonato Messina; cousin Beatrice Messina. She had no children or spouse.

Hero was born on May 13th in Messina to Gabriel and Imogen Messina. She graduated from Messina High School two years ago. She was a sophomore at the University of Messina pursuing a degree in Journalism. She was a member of the Dead Poets Society, known for her piece “The Masked Man of Italy”. She also was involved with Messina Daily and Messina Media. She was unmarried, after her fiancé Claudio disavowed her.

Hero was a proud member of Alpha Delta Omicron. Hero found a home there and a second family to support her while she was studying at the university of Messina. Hero was always attending activities, events, or just hanging out at Alpha Delta Omicron headquarters.  

She was known as a kindhearted and innocent woman. She was remembered for her beautiful use of language and wise advice.

Hero was passionate about reading and learning new things and often indulged by reading, writing, and researching. She was a kind individual who loved poetry and who was skilled at writing beautifully.

We ask for a limit to any gossip or rumors about further details due to this very difficult time for friends and family of Hero.

The funeral is scheduled for February 20th at Messina Memorial and Funeral Home with a reception to follow at Hero’s favorite location at University of Messina, the Orchard. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Hero’s vibrant life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Messina’s Humanitarian Disaster Fund. The family would like to thank everyone for their patience and kindness in this difficult time.
