Finding Truth in Chaos: The Rise of Bianca's Podcast

Updated: Feb 3

As a newcomer to the University of Messina’s large and vibrant campus, it can be difficult to navigate all the different student groups, entertainment options, and more. One thing I have grown to love about the U is Messina Media and its various podcasts. From the ‘Messina Weekly’ to ‘Mess in a Pod’ there are so many perspectives and voices about campus life that students can listen to for entertainment and feel more connected to the campus community.

Recently a new podcast premiered on the Messina Media website called Bianca’s Podcast: Uncover the Dark. Hosted by Bianca Minola, a junior pursuing a bachelors in music performance, ‘Uncover the Dark’ focuses on clarifying the drama and chaos of campus life. Her casual and conversational tone makes you feel as if you are in the room with her, like you’re getting an exclusive look into campus drama. It has quickly become my favorite podcast! She also includes a moral to the story she presents in each episode. For example, in her most recent episode, Bianca delved into the drama at the beginning of Claudio and Hero’s relationship ending with the moral that love is worth fighting for. To me, this shows an intentionality that I feel other podcasts at Messina Media lack. Bianca is not just sharing her opinions, she also wants to learn from the events she covers and encourages her listeners to do the same.

Starting a podcast comes with its challenges though. As a transfer student from Padua University, Bianca came into Messina Media with less resources than her fellow students. Even so, she has definitely caught the attention of other students at Messina Media and it seems to have sparked some competition. Namely Robin “Puck”  Goodfellow, the host of ‘Mess in a Pod’ which is arguably the most popular podcast on campus. Puck has been quoted saying that the Bianca podcast is ‘trash’ and ‘has nothing of value to say’. In my opinion this comes from a place of jealousy. ‘Uncover the Dark’ brings something new to Messina’s podcast scene, which could feel threatening to a well established podcast. What it lacks in production value and guest speakers is made up for in Bianca Minola’s clear passion for uncovering the truth behind all the chaos.

Don’t just take my word for it though! Be sure to give Bianca’s podcast a listen over at Messina Media; she is definitely on the rise! Her latest episode came out just yesterday on 2/16, go check it out!
