Last night, Alpha Delta Omicron hosted their highly anticipated Valentine's Day party! The event's theme was pink and red, as stated on the flyers placed throughout campus, and boy, did Messina show up and show out! This party showcased an array of extravagant outfits that reflected love and affection, ranging from playful and flirtatious pieces to steamy and seductive ensembles. It's possible that partygoers will find love or wound up with broken hearts here as well…
In an ocean of red and pink, attendees chose to stick strictly to the theme, much to the host’s delight. Shades like rose, bubblegum, fuchsia, wine, ruby, and even amaranth dominated and seemed to be the most popular choices of color. While red and pink both represent love, each has its own twist. Red conveys feelings of passion and heat but also of anger and rage if developed too deeply. Pink, on the other hand, represents the romantic and charming side of love that evokes compassion, warmth, and joy.
Some attendees I noticed that had accents of red were Claudio and John Donaldson while attendees like Benedick, Beatrice, and Hero opted for the soft side of love and adorned pink pieces.
Another recurring trend in the attire of partygoers was flirtatious or seductive. Some choose to stick to a romantic vibe with flowing fabrics, floral patterns, and playful silhouettes, while others channeled sexiness with figure-hugging ensembles, textures of satin and velvet, and bold cuts. Yet, amidst all these different takes on fashion, the attire was only complementary to one thing: the beautiful celebration of love and all the forms it can manifest in.
Messina's wide range of romantic attire has greatly impressed me, and throughout the evening, I could see how each personalized outfit fulfilled its intended function—whether it was to find love, have fun, or even break a few hearts—the fashion only served to elevate the party's overall experience.
And who knows? Maybe even I found love!
